The AFUE measures the amount of heat actually delivered to your house compared to the amount of fuel that you supply to the furnace. For example, a furnace that has an 80% AFUE converts 80% of the fuel into heat for the home and 20% is lost out of the chimney. Note that this only deals with fuel efficiency not electrical usage.

Hybrid Heat uses a heating source
that provides the most
energy-efficient comfort during
moderate heating conditions.
If the temperature drops below a
given temperature, your system
goes to a secondary heating source
when that is the most economical
way to keep your home comfortable.
Hybrid Heat includes an Infinity 19
heat pump as well as the furnace.
This combination delivers heated
air temperatures that are warmer
than most traditional heat pumps.
Since the Hybrid Heat system
provides cooling as well, this
system becomes your total,
year-round comfort solution.

It's not the greatest feeling, waiting for the
furnace to kick back on. Sometimes your
house can get downright chilly between the
blasts of warm air. Carrier has solved that
problem with technology that they've named
Comfort Heat. This technology allows the
furnace to predict the need for heat, thus
cutting the regular temperature swings in
half. It provides a nearly continuous flow of
warmth in low-capacity operation for a
steadier, more consistent indoor
temperature. This is a patented technology!
